The Illusionists

Magic's not dead. At least, you won't say that when you see The Illusionists live on stage. The broadway hit features magic tricks, stunts and unbelievable acts of illusion, all wrapped up in an entertaining experience for the entire family.

So what can you expect? Well, there's the master magician, who specialises in mentalism and grand-scale illusions; the clairvoyants, who can unnerve you by reading what's on your mind; and the eccentric artists, who combine a mix of acrobatics, silent comedy and magic. Other types of performances include sleight-of-hand tricks and vanishing acts.

This is one show you'll have to see for yourself to believe.

If you've passed by Baghdad Street these past couple months, you would've notice long, snaking queues outside a newly opened establishment called Overrun.

The latest craze that's taken over the streets of the Haji Lane district? Overrun's chendol soft serve ice cream. Just like how our childhood used to taste after school when we went to 7Eleven to get those chendol Mister Softee sundaes. Apparently, everyone else wants to relive that sweet gula melaka feels — thus why they keep selling out nearly everyday.

The Food Bank Singapore

A shop that sells food for only $1 each? Sounds too good to be true — but it's not. The Food Pantry is a shop space at Sims Avenue that will open on Apr 25 to sell consumable items close to their expiry date, but still in good condition. And yes, everything goes for just a dollar.

Established by non-profit organisation The Food Bank Singapore, this thrift store will offer canned foods, biscuits, beverages, sauces and confectionaries that have less than two months of shelf life. Fruits and veggies that are edible but not 'good-looking' will soon make an appearance as well. This effort aims to raise awareness on food wastage reduction, and all finances raised will be used for The Food Pantry's manpower, utilities, rental and other expenses.

The plane landed back in Changi Airport at 2.40pm yesterday afternoon, where alternative flights were re-booked for affected passengers. SIA's engineers and Airbus are currently looking into the cause of the malfunction.

Looks like some folks at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) took joyriding to the next level in a silly stunt — going on car surfing session at night.

Unfortunately in the age of affordable dashcams, the whole shenanigan was caught on tape. Watch the video below and see the person just chilling on the car bonnet.

Instead of outrage, the internet reacted appropriately with quips. As they should.

Last year, 17-year-old ITE student Muhammad Zuhairie Adely Zulkifli was sentenced to serve 18 months in jail and receive six strokes of the cane for assaulting another student with a bread knife.

The incident came to nationwide attention in a viral video in March last year, where Zuhairie can be seen wielding a 35cm-long bread knife, chasing 18-year-old Ahmad Nurthaqif who apparently called his girlfriend "baby" days before the attack. The assault left Ahmad with slash wounds across his back, fractures on his forearm and fingers, as well as a cut behind his ear.

Ah, Mustafa Centre. How we love our favourite retail behemoth of choice where all our wants and needs can be fulfilled 24/7 — and all for cheap too.

Navigating through 400,000 sq ft of merchandises however can be pretty daunting, not to mention very frustrating when its crowded. Expat mum Jennifer Jasensky however broke down the Mustafa Centre Shopping Experience in her blog Watch Mom Try that's actually really helpful for both noobs and regulars. She actually scoped out each and every level and wing, painstakingly categorising each department where you can find each particular item in a Mustafa Map.

In the midst of Goodwood Park Hotel's popular annual Durian Fiesta, production for their beloved durian puffs got shut down by the authorities, who got wind of the foul-smelling oversights in their bakery.

The thorny lapses were brought to the attention of the National Environment Agency (NEA), Ministry of Health (MOH), and Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), who received reports of 76 food poisoning cases there as of yesterday.

Goodwood Park Hotel's bakery has since had its license suspended, with the authorities ordering them to cease the production, sale and distribution of all their pastries. It's a fierce shutdown too — pastries already prepared by them also had to be disposed.

Changi Airport tops yet another list — this time, it's been named Asia's most popular airport for 'self-connect' travellers who create their own itinerary for connecting flights.

According to a report by travel search engine Skyscanner, based on data collected from its 50 million monthly users, our airport took the number one spot for people travelling to Asia when they booked two separate connecting tickets to save money or plan a stopover in the country.

Next on the regional list is Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, followed by Hong Kong International Airport. In the Americas, the Los Angeles International Airport clinched first place, while in Europe, Dublin Airport took the honour.

Let this infographic help you plan your future stopovers.

Uber and Grab slash fares generously, but it's not sitting well with the National Taxi Association

When ride-booking apps Uber and Grab announced that they slashed down their private chauffeur service fares pretty generously a couple of weeks ago, folks (including us) were overjoyed. Cheaper trips no matter which service you resort to, and all the more reasons not to flag down a cab anymore.

The National Taxi Association (NTA), of course, wasn't too happy. Calling it an unsustainable business strategy, they said that the price cuts would affect the private drivers' earnings and in the long run, could damage the taxi industry and commuters.
