Another early morning accident on the roads today (after a harrowing one on the SLE yesterday) left one person injured after a car mounted the centre divider along Braddell Road.

Reports have been saying that the accident took place at about 6.45am in the direction towards Bartley after Toa Payoh, with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) advising motorists to avoid the right lane.

The congestion that followed was seen all the way till the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) that lasted beyond 8.55am.

Apple Pay

Two years since its release, Apple's mobile payment and digital wallet service finally arrives in Singapore today, allowing customers to pay for their purchases awkwardly using their iPhones, Apple Watches and iPads.

With the launch here, Apple Pay is now available in six countries, and only the second expansion in Asia. The caveat is that we're only able to use American Express cards right now — but the good news is that support for credit and debit cards from Visa and banks such as DBS, UOB and Standard Chartered can be expected soon.

Well, well, how the turn tables tables have turned. One of the country's most hated uniformed professionals gets caught in the act of doing exactly what he was employed to enforce against — and this time it's on video.

An irate individual by the name of Siva Kumar managed to catch a Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officer parking his bike illegally while he was having his lunch. In other words, he was doing the same thing that many other motorists have been fined for.

At least the LTA officer sheepishly admitted that he was in the wrong, and said that he'll move his vehicle away. Siva however made sure to take a photo of the bike first, probably to lodge a complaint to the authorities and getting revenge for all those fun times with fines. Watch the whole confrontation unfold below:

Singapore levels up yet again in their aim to be an aerospace hub with the launch of a new 9,250 sqm training centre at Seletar Aerospace Park.

The $135 million facility is a joint venture between European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and Singapore Airlines (SIA), and is set to become the largest Airbus flight crew training centre in the world. The facility houses eight full-flight simulators and is expected to offer courses for up to 10,000 flight crew trainees per year.

Already, 17 airline across the region have already chosen the centre for their flight training, including the likes of Qatar Airways, Qantas, China Airlines, Japan Airlines and of course SIA.

Much has been said and debated about a Singapore High Court's exoneration of a transgender individual of sexual assault, due to an unexpected ruling stating that only a man can be declared guilty for such an offense.

Zunika Ahmad — biologically born a female but had passed off as a man since she was 16 — had pleaded guilty last year to six counts of sexual penetration and a count of sexual exploitation. She admitted to performing sexual acts on an underage girl with a sex toy.

 Nothing But Thieves

Formed in 2012, this English alt rock quintet debuted their first eponymous album last year in the UK, followed by their sold-out 'Ban All the Music' tour. A second Brit tour was announced for this year, but some dates had to be postponed after the guys were asked to support rock legends Muse on the UK leg of their 'Drones' tour. Pretty cool stuff, for a band that's only released one full-length record so far.

Nothing But Thieves will be performing here as part of the Rising Star Series — a new initiative that aims to feature emerging artists in Singapore for the first time — with tunes like 'Trip Switch', 'Honey Whiskey' and 'Excuse Me'. Watch out for a yet-to-be announced local up-and-coming musician as the opening act.

Cards Against Singapore

Cards Against Humanity has been famously living up to its name ever since its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter raised nearly four times its original goal in 2010.

A hysterical politically incorrect card game described simply as a "party game for horrible people", the game has been one of the many successful tabletop games that've managed to work in a digital age — mostly due to its crass, adult content. In case you're one of the few unsullied people left in the world, the game's mechanics involves presenting fill-in-the-blank statements, and playing a card with the funniest (often the most offensive) answers.

No Peasants Please: Ivory is a super-exclusive dating app meant to match Singapore's elites

It's a dating app so elitist that Lee Kuan Yew would have gladly endorsed it for his eugenic utopia. In a marketing tactic so boldly pompous, Ivory (yeap, as in Ivory Tower) wants high-achievers to get together via their app, because you know, "the better deserve YOU".

Fearlessly snobbish? Check. Exclusive members-only waitlist? Yezzir. Is it even legit? Apparently so, according to Tech In Asia, and all that snooty vibes aren't unintentional — they've admitted to taking some notes from the Kim Kardashian school of controversial marketing. "Why settle for less?" questions the app's founders, said to be two proud Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) alumni and a "random Angmoh".

A Teban Gardens three-room flat is under investigation by the Housing and Development Board for cramming up to 20 tenants in the space, reported Shin Min Daily News. It was former tenant Mr Tian, 25, who lodged the complaint. He had rented a bed from the master tenant for $250 a month, but to his horror, discovered over 20 people living in the flat.

One of the bedrooms housed four double-decker beds, the living room was partitioned by curtains into four areas, and even the storeroom was rented out. Common facilities were all shared, including the refrigerator and the washing machine, and everyone had to get in line to use one bathroom. With such living conditions, the turnover rate was high, and he estimates about 17 tenants living in the Block 44 flat now.

$10,000 is a lot of money. Many would falter at the thought of getting that much for a bribe, but Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chan Wai Hoong stuck to his guns and turned it down.

ASP Chan and his team of officers from Central Division had been carrying out enforcement operations at Middle Road on the afternoon of Apr 14, when they conducted a check on a 42-year-old woman.

Throughout the check, the woman repeatedly dangled an offer of $10,000 to ASP Chan in exchange for letting her go. The offers were promptly rejected and she was arrested for attempting to bribe a police officer and has been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) for investigation. Aside from the bribery, she is also being investigated for suspected involvement in vice activities under the provisions of the Women's Charter.

Heads up — next time you return to Singapore from an overseas trip, expect a longer wait at the luggage belt. If you didn't know before, Changi Airport actually has a 'first bag on the belt in 12 minutes' stance, but it's recently been loosened to allow — gasp — a whopping extra few minutes.

What on earth will we do with all that time? How can the duty free shops keep us occupied till then? Will there be enough emails and texts to check? Is anyone taking note of our legit worries?

Minister of Transport celebrates 100 disruption-free days on the North-South MRT line

Though public transport services are always expected to run properly without any disruptions, it's a damn shame that the opposite is true these past few years where train delays and service stoppages are the norm.

That's probably why Minister of Transport Khaw Boon Wan will take whatever milestone he can get — he announced the achievement of 100 disruption-free days for the North-South Line (NSL). The new Downtown Line on the other hand passed the 178-days' mark and should reach 200 by next month.

"The entry of NSL is especially inspiring as it is our oldest line," Khaw wrote on his blog, while also warning that they can't rest on their laurels.

He also notes how daunting the challenges are, considering that the rail capacity is being expanded, ageing assets are being replaced and the power system is being upgraded at the same time.

This weekend marks the third Car-Free Sunday, to be held on Apr 24, 5am to 7pm. While that's great news for cyclists and people who love to stroll around the CBD, it's not so good for drivers and people who love to take buses.

According to SBS Transit, nine bus services will be affected by road closures around the Civic District and Central Business District. So if you hop on a bus, hoping to get to Anson Road, Connaught Drive, Fullerton Road, Marina Boulevard, Parliament Place or Shenton Way, well, tough luck.

Here's the list of buses and the roads affected.

Figures released by the Ministry of Manpower yesterday showed that the country's state of unemployment weren't looking too good last year, with more folks getting laid off .

Compared to 2014's figure of 12,930 laid off, a total of 15,580 workers were made redundant last year, according to MOM's annual Redundancy and Re-entry into Employment report.

A worrying pattern was also seen — those aged 40 and above formed the majority of the people laid off (65 percent). Residents however were found to be less vulnerable to lay-offs as compared to to foreigners.
