Organising a motorbike trip to Thailand with your buddies? Make sure you're up-to-date on the new regulations before setting off.

Bangkok Post recently reported that tourists are now banned from driving motorcycles and motor homes into Thailand. This restriction is an attempt by the country to curb the flow of foreign vehicles on roads, especially in the North.

"The vehicles present problems in terms of frequent accidents and ecological harm," said Sanit Phromwong, the Land Transport Department chief in Thailand.

The slowing economy is a cause for concern — especially for what it could do to the job market in Singapore. These two issues came up top in an annual survey conducted by REACH, where 3,600 feedback forms were collected face-to-face and online from Feb 1 to Feb 26.

Singapore traffic

There's no reason to indulge in the Monday blues, 'cause this week's a short one. But if you're planning to head across the border over the Good Friday long weekend, be prepared to get in line.

Unsurprisingly, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority has announced that heavy traffic is to be expected at both the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints departing Singapore on Mar 24 and 25, and returning on Mar 27.

Some suggestions given by ICA to ensure a smoother journey include car-pooling with friends, refraining from cutting the queue of an already-annoyed driver, and making sure your car doesn't contain any prohibited goods.

A man riding a motorcycle garnered a whole lot of attention and praise on social media with a simple act of compassion. Noticing an ambulance on the Pan Island Expressway rushing to the hospital, he didn't just move out of the way — he signaled to other drivers to clear the road.

It's not every day you see such a show of kindness.

Last Saturday afternoon, Facebook user Maria N Clyde Alexander uploaded the video clip taken from inside the ambulance, and it's since gotten more than 16,000 shares.

By the time June arrives, anyone who uses ATMs by DBS and POSB will get the new option of selecting Tamil as their language of choice. This makes the bank the first in Singapore to provide all four languages — English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil — reports Channel NewsAsia.

As part of a large-scale ATM user interface revamp by the bank — its first major one in a decade — the change will affect more than 1,000 machines across the country. Other improved features include larger fonts for the elderly, more preset amounts for cash withdrawals and an expansion of the main menu to offer options for popular transactions.

Mar 24, 8.30pm

For Kylie Bucknell, the worst part about being on home detention is returning to her childhood house and living with her mum, Miriam. A superstitious person, Miriam is certain their living quarters are haunted, but Kylie refuses to believe in the supernatural. That is, until she experiences creepy whispers and alarming noises in the night, and begins to wonder if it's her imagination... or something more.

Spider-Man in Singapore

Oh look, it's our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man strolling down a street in Pasir Ris. What's he doing? Will the person unmask himself? Is he on his way to fight a gang of baddies? Or did he just save someone in distress? (Why are we so curious?)

Whatever the case, Spidey sure seems to be taking his time, sauntering along the road and waving at fans instead of shooting webs from his wrists and swinging around the city.

A slow day for crimebusters, perhaps?

The Faith of Anna Waters

The Faith of Anna Waters is Singapore's first Hollywood horror movie. What does that mean, exactly? Well, local director Kelvin Tong (known for films like The Maid and It's a Great, Great World) actually received Hollywood funding to produce his latest title. So, in a way, that makes him the first homegrown filmmaker to make a movie financed by Hollywood. The film is set to have a US theatrical release, but how wide of a reach it gets depends on the end product.

Chee and Murali

On Sunday, Chee Soon Juan, chief of the Singapore Democratic Party, announced his candidacy for the Bukit Batok by-election. Although others have expressed possible interest, he's the only (and most prominent) opposition party member to confirm his place in the fight.

Today, the People's Action Party introduced its candidate — lawyer K. Muralidharan Pillai, who's been a long-time PAP activist. Formerly the Branch Secretary of PAP Bukit Batok, he's been the chairman of PAP's Paya Lebar branch since 2012.

If you remember, the 48-year-old was part of the PAP team that went head-to-head with The Workers' Party for Aljunied GRC in the 2015 General Election, and lost by a narrow margin. 53-year-old Chee ran with his SDP team for the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, but lost to the PAP 33.4 percent to 66.6 percent.

The Singapore Police Force's blue tent was set up to cover the body soon after, and paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.

In a tragic turn of events, a 23-year-old passed away from serious head injuries after taking a nasty fall from his electric scooter. Described by his family as an expert on all things related to e-scooters, Sam Koh worked at PassionGadgets for the past two years, selling unicycles, kick scooters and hoverboards.

The accident occurred when he was out riding with two friends on the route from East Coast Park to Marina Bay Sands, according to The New Paper. His younger brother, Benson, added that Sam was an experienced rider, and unfortunately wore a cap instead of a helmet at the time of the fall. After landing on his back, Sam lost consciousness and went into a coma.

Lecturer, motivational speaker, and incendiary columnist Ridhuan Tee, infamous for his one-man war on what he calls the "ultra kiasu" ways of ethnic Chinese (also: Tee is Chinese) was barred from entering Singapore, the predominantly ethnic Chinese island republic where the term "kiasu" was originally coined.

Surprised? Not as surprised as Tee.

According to what Tee told The Star Online's Dina Murad, he was in Johor two months ago when, on a seeming whim, the racially-charged talking head decided to "test the waters" and determine if Singapore's government would allow him entry.

The Labelled Chair

Kids say the darndest things. Sometimes, their honest reponses make for entertaining moments; other times, their childlike innocence gives us food for thought. Like in this viral video, titled 'The Labelled Chair', which brings together little ones from different nationalities and races for a social experiment on labels.

Directed by Josiah Ng, the clip sees chlidren enter a room with hidden cameras, two at a time. A pair of chairs have been placed in the center, each marked with a word that sort of contradicts the other. Like 'smart' and 'stupid', 'ugly' and 'pretty', and 'useless' and 'good'.

Jerald Lie

In the age where Strong Female Characters are starting to become more prominent (and rightfully so) in both popular media and real life, one man's loving ode to his docile wife is under attack from the internet.

To be fair, young Jerald Lie did not do anything wrong here — he did not force his wife to play the role of a traditional housewife who's willing to do everything to support the man of the house. In a pretty rare disposition in the modern husband-wife dynamic, the wife is more than willing to conform to old expectations of being a homely woman. In other words, a submissive wife, as Lie repeatedly notes in his viral Facebook post.
