Zircon Swis Gourmet

Squirrelled away in the Tiong Bahru enclave, this new retail/cafe space by Zircon-Swis Fine Foods is all minimalistic in its decor. Stamped on its exterior are three simple words: Food, wine and beer. That's pretty much what it's all about.

Launched just last week, the store carries a variety of European-imported brands for coconut oils, greek yogurts, beers, wines, pesto sauces, jams, dips, cheeses and the like. So if you're stocking your pantry with good foods for your upcoming dinner party, you know where to go.

Right now things are looking a little bare, but it's gearing up for a full launch next week, so drop by then for a spread of gourmet sandwiches, salads, sausages, hams, cakes and other treats.

Hello, Kitty. We can't wait to see you again.

Thanks to Mighty Eight, the group who brought us the Hello Kitty Go Around carnival last October, Hello Kitty makes another pitstop on our shores just in time for the school holidays. This time, as Robot Kitty. Yup, you heard right. No more cute and cuddly — the iconic Sanrio character has turned sci-fi.

According to Channel NewsAsia, the event starts from Jun 10, so you'll either wanna camp out at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, or avoid it like the plague. If you're a fan, you'll be psyched to know that the theme park lasts for 11 days and features five interactive gaming and photo-taking zones.

Whether we knew about them from a cool older sibling or from hit TV show The OC when 00s alt-teen dream Seth Cohen put on ‘Movie Script Ending’ on a road trip with his ‘mainstream’ company consisting crush, her best friend, and his foster brother. What did his lady friend say? “It’s like one guitar, and a whole lot of complaining.” Oh the anguish.

Last month, a night out in a Vietnamese club for several Singaporeans turned into a horrific brawl.

On Wednesday, three Vietnamese men who purportedly stabbed at least two Singaporeans at a Ho Chi Minh City party were arrested, according to TODAY. The altercation occurred at DC Club in the Cong Qunyh District on Feb 27, when Singaporean Tan Chee Boon banged into Vietnamese Duong Cong Trang. The man failed to apologize immediately, so Trang rounded up two friends and headed over to Tan's table.

Future World at ArtScience Museum

Fancy a glimpse of the future? Okay, perhaps that may not be possible just yet. But here's the next best thing — 'Future World: Where Art Meets Science', the new permanent exhibition at the ArtScience Museum.

Once you get past the long and not-so-informative title, the space itself is actually kind of awesome. Co-curated by the museum with Japanese group teamLab, the digital playground — Singapore's largest — stars 15 art installations that make use of technology to execute super cool stuff.

Plus, everything's interactive, which means you get to be part of the artworks. That's great news for anyone who's been to a gallery or museum and yearned to poke, rub or feel up the displays behind the 'Do Not Touch' sign (you know who you are).

What's the craziest thing you've ever done to someone who cut your queue?

In a hilarious turn of events, a disgruntled dude threw all sense out the window and raged against one of the stalls at the Upper Boon Keng Market & Food Centre today.

Someone had the nerve to cut in line of this tattooed man, according to Lianhe Wanbao (perhaps the article's mention of his body ink was to reiterate his intimidating appearance?). In response, he went on a beehoon killing spree.

MP David Ong

There's nothing like an ongoing sex scandal to shake away the Monday blues.

Bukit Batok MP David Ong, 54, has resigned, citing "personal reasons." This could mean many things, of course, but in his case, it's a way of acknowledging that he messed things up by having an affair with a married woman, who is said to be a grassroots activist in his constituency.

The People Action's Party's "decisive action" to relieve Ong from his post was because "there are standards which I think that the party wants to uphold," Chan Chun Sing, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, said yesterday.

The sad thing is that, as a politician, Ong was actually well loved by his constituents (and obviously, his mistress too).

You can put down your pitchforks, people. Contrary to what several netizens have been claiming, Edmund Ng is just a regular guy — a spectator in the David Ong scandal.

In an interview with TODAY, the annoyed 31-year-old expressed his anger at being wrongly called out as the husband of Wendy Lim, the 41-year-old grassroots volunteer and People's Action Party member who reportedly had an affair with David Ong, the former Bukit Batok Member of Parliament.

Kids do the darndest things. Like one pre-schooler, who's made headlines for his parkour-like antics in an open-air HDB carpark. Wearing a childcare centre uniform, the unsupervised boy has been spotted climbing up and stomping around on the bonnets and tops of several vehicles, even playing around with tools he found on a lorry.

Reportedly, he and his younger sister have gone so far as to hang their bodies half way out the window of their third-storey flat and fling water on passers-by and stray cats.

According to The New Paper, concerned residents tried to reel him in and stop his bad behaviour. But when all else failed, one of them filed a police report, which was then referred to the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

And that's on top of the $30,000 he must fork out by this Wednesday to cover the cost of the Assessment of Damages hearing.

His immediate reaction was to put up a Facebook post chronicling his experiences over the past 2 years. "I should have been careful with how I say things. I am thankful to have reached the settlement with the prime minister," he declared. "I hope to have a fresh start."

The shopping website for tastefully curated lifestyle items such as art, watches and furniture are now selling high-roller items such as the first edition of the Yamazaki 50 year old (only 50 bottles were produced in 2005) for a staggering price of $85,000; and the Karuizawa 50 year old 1963 OB for $60,000. There are "cheaper" options, of course, though not necessarly more affordable. A bottle of Macallan (The) 18 year old from 1967 is for $4,750 and the Littlemill Crystal Decanter costs $4,990.
