Sookoon Ang, Singaporean artist

One of the highlights of 'Everest,' Sookoon Ang's solo exhibition at Objectifs, is a mixed media installation that uses silk, tulle, plexiglass, metal and lights to convey the form of a mountain.

Ang uses the fragile nature of textile to represent the boldness and presentness of Mount Everest as a means of conveying the monumental in the mind and spirit and to surpass the limitations of the medium.

For this piece, Ang worked closely with British designer and Central Saint Martin’s graduate Sorcha O’Raghallaigh, whose creations have been worn by celebrities such as Kate Moss, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

‘Everest’ is a multimedia show with a range of smaller works of various mediums, such as sculptures cast in wax and bronze,  works on paper, as well as video art.

Laneway Festival Singapore have always outdone themselves each year, but this year they've literally gone bigger in every aspect — more acts (there's 28 now) and more stages (there's four now).

With so much good music flowing free and easy at The Meadow, it shouldn't come a surprise that there'll be a lot of clashes in set timings. It's always a daunting task to pick and choose which acts you'll have to sacrifice (Fauxe VS Thundercat? Intriguant VS Battles? Flume vs Purity Ring?) but it's gotta be done for the greater good. Have a gander at the set timings for the concert next week:

His resentment against them also stemmed from his dislike of the way they apparently eyed his mother and his girlfriend.

The earliest attacks took place in 2013, during his teenage days. Together with his friend, they ambushed a Bangladeshi construction worker and an Indian construction worker at Hougang Avenue 3.
