If you're one of those that will queue up all night for limited edition Hello Kitty plushies and what-have-yous, you might want to start getting busy. Or at least plan on it.
The Singapore government will present every baby born next year — the nation's 50th anniversary — with a birthday gift.
The Jubilee Baby Gift pack will reportedly be filled with practical and commemorative (read: collectible) items, and — according to the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) that's funding it — will be a "meaningful, significant (and) tangible keepsake with heritage value".
Organising bodies will be busy this month collecting ideas for the gift pack items — there may be up to 10 of them consisting of anything from a key on a chain to baby accessories like a sarong with a national flag motif as suggested by the Prime Minister's Office's Grace Fu.
Focus group discussions are already underway.
Have some ideas of your own? Submit them via the Jubilee Baby Gift microsite by April 15, or at feedback booths in Jurong Point (April 5 —6) and VivoCity (April 12 — 13).
