![Balestier Road coffee shop ends up in flames, no injuries reported]()
A coffee shop along Balestier Road was left in ruins after a fire broke out yesterday morning (watch videos below).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was called at 10:45am and arrived at the scene within 10 minutes with one fire engine, two red rhinos and five support vehicles. The fire was put out within 20 minutes using two water jets.
While no injuries were reported amongst the 20 people at the coffee shop during the incident, a man escaping from a neighbouring unit suffered minor abrasions and was brought to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to receive medical attention.
Coffee shop patrons started evacuating when they saw smoke coming out the back of the coffee shop, which has about six stalls and seats 50 customers.
A further 20 devotees attending a religious meeting at the Buddha Dhamma Mandala Society on the second floor also spotted the fire and managed to safely evacuate the building.
Investigations by the SCDF on the cause of fire are ongoing.
This is the second fire involving a coffee shop this month after the March 7 incident at Marine Terrace.
