Make a visit to Block 441 Tampines Street 43 and you may be surprised by the appearance of two new refrigerators at the void deck by the lift lobby. These donated community fridges, which are part of an initiative to encourage residents to offer food to others in need, feature various sections for people to stock them up with everything from meat and eggs to vegetables and drinks.
One stores Halal items while the other contains non-Halal food, and both are free for residents to take whatever they want — although they're encouraged not to let the kiasu spirit rear its ugly head and grab everything.
