Taxi drivers will get a new two-storey deck holding area to queue while waiting to pick up passengers from Terminal 1.
Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2015, the $50 million project aims to make it safer for cabbies lining up for passengers along the busy Airport Boulevard, which can stretch as far back as one kilometre when the current Terminal 1 holding area gets full.
The new two-storey deck, which holds 300 taxis — triple that of the existing Terminal 1 holding area — will be built above Terminal 3’s taxi holding area, with a new ramp and road that directly connects to Terminal 1.
Amenities like toilets and a canteen will also be included at the new waiting area.
