
Extradited to Washington from Indonesia earlier this year, a Singaporean man is now facing serious time in prison for his involvement in improvised explosive devices in Iraq — which has caused the deaths of 196 American soldiers and wounded 861 more, according to Pentagon documents.
42-year-old Lim Yong Nam, also known as Steven Lim, pleaded guilty yesterday to a federal charge stemming from his role in an illegal export conspiracy that involved US-made radio frequency modules ending up in detonation systems of 16 roadside bombs in Iraq. In 2010, the man had been indicted on additional charges that included smuggling, illegally exporting goods to Iran and making false statements.
