
They may be here to fill up Singapore’s less glamorous career options, but that sure doesn’t stop our foreign friends from nurturing and manifesting their hidden talents when opportunity comes knocking.
Of particular note is the annual Migrant Worker Poetry Competition held on December 11 this year, which serves as a platform since 2014 that’s designed for – you guessed it — migrant workers to express their thoughts and wishes (in addition to utilising a touch of creativity) through a wide spectrum of languages.
This year’s winner, Mr Bikas Nath – a 22-year-old from Chittagong, Bangladesh – snagged the top prize of the event with his entry, Why Migrant? or in Bengali tongue, Keno Probashi? among the 17 finalists selected from the original 70 entries.
