When Sky Travel and Tours suddenly closed down, many travellers were left in the lurch, their money having vanished into thin air. Among them was 68-year-old Madam Teo Ino Meo, who had saved for over a year just to book her dream vacation to Hokkaido, Japan. To make things worse, the travel agency folded the day she was supposed to leave on the trip.
Working as a part-time cleaner earning $250 a month, Madam Teo was upset and felt guilty over what had happened, as she was the one who persuaded her two friends to join her on the $2,300 tour. All of them lost their money.
But thanks to budget airline Scoot and travel activities platform Klook, turns out she and her two friends will be walking the streets of Hokkaido. After hearing her story, both companies came together to fully fund their trip in February or March next year.
