Like a scene out of a failed SimCity arrangement, it was total vehicular chaos at the junction of Yio Chu Kang and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 yesterday afternoon when traffic lights stopped working.
To make things even worse, it happened during a thunderstorm. Traffic crawled slower as vehicles from all four sides tried to navigate past each other — but failed to do so in an orderly fashion.
A witness who was riding on bus service 88 to Toa Payoh informed The Straits Times that the cars came in from all directions and none gave way; they just "tailgated each other".
