Boxing and equestrian will be among the events featuring at the 2015 SEA Games here in June, with floorball making its debut.
The SEA Games council members have agreed to cap the number of sports to 36 but will convene to decide on the final line-up of sports to be included, as well as the total number of gold medals to be awarded, which currently stands at 381.
Six sports were added from an original list of 30 after appeals by member countries were made at a council meeting last month. The six, with the corresponding gold medals alloted, are: boxing (11), equestrian (4), floorball (2), petanque (8), rowing (18) and volleyball (2).
While appeals for other sports continue to stream in, organisers have to be firm in keeping with the agreed cap due to financial and event venue limitations.
Sports like boxing and wushu have also been told to reduce the number of gold medals at stake.
