If there's an incident that should serve as a catalyst for faster implementation of stricter laws on personal mobility devices (PMDs), this would be it. In what seems to be the most horrible accident involving e-bikes so far, two men died while another suffered serious injuries along West Coast Highway.
From what witnesses have posted on Facebook, the accident involved three electric bicycles and a container truck — and pictures show that the bikes stood no chance against the huge lorry. Two of the e-bikes were smashed to smithereens, while the other sustained major damage on its front.
