The Singapore Police Force is warning the public of a rise in scammers impersonating police officers. Apparently, people have been receiving calls from the number +65 999 on their mobile phones, but these are actually made possible with caller ID spoofing technology. It's a typical ploy used by scammers to hide their original phone number and trick you into thinking they're someone else.

According to the police, if you get such a call, you'll first hear an automated Mandarin voice message asking you to enter a number. Then a Mandarin-speaking operator pretending to be from SPF will demand for your personal information. If you refuse, you'll be told to head to the police station with your IC, otherwise police officers will soon be knocking on your door.
