It seems like sales personnel have been going around hard-selling these products, flashing their company passes with photo IDs or the Civil Defence Emergency Handbook to convince people that they represent the SCDF.
Aggressive sales techniques including threats of fines are usually employed.
While SCDF personnel have been conducting home visits to explain the SG Secure initiative, rest assured they do not liaise with any company to sell fire extinguishers or insurance. Plus, it's not mandatory to keep a fire extinguisher at home — although it is encouraged.
