Shoreline restoration works at Pulau Ubin are slated to begin in 2017, and once they're complete, a new coastal boardwalk will be built. According to Senior Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee, NParks started feasibility studies in mid-2015, and the major undertaking of restoring the island's shoreline will take place on two beaches: Noordin and Mamam Beach. The coastal boardwalk is set to follow thereafter — extending into the sea in the north of Ubin — to offer visitors views of the sea and the coastal forests.
