In the third incident in a span of eight months, another faulty HDB elevator has lifted itself into headlines.

77-year-old Lim Hang Chiang suffered a fatal fall on Sunday while exiting the lift of his block along Pasir Ris Street 21, The New Paper reports. Unfortunately, the lift car only stopped slightly above the floor — a 15cm difference — and that caused his reversing mobility scooter to fall over.

Though Lim hit the back of his head, he managed to get up and thought nothing of it, simply putting some ice on his head at home. An hour after the accident however, things started to go downhill as he felt nauseous and vomited a couple of times. He went through an X-ray and two CT scans as his condition started to deteriorate quickly — his memory started going and could no longer recognise his family members.
