A 12-hour police operation involving simultaneous raids at various locations on Tuesday yielded eight suspects, reported Channel NewsAsia. Seven men and one woman, aged between 32 and 61, were believed to be involved in a loanshark syndicate, carrying out roles like the collection of repayment and the distribution of loans to borrowers.
According to the police, among the items seized were $29,000 worth of cash, mobile phones, ATM cards, Internet banking devices, notebooks, a bank book and bank transaction slips.
Six of the suspects will be charged in court today, and investigations against the remaining two are ongoing.
