Six people were injured when a THAI Airways flight from Jakarta to Bangkok hit turbulence over Singapore on Monday.

THAI president Charamporn Jotikasthira said on Tuesday that Flight TG434 from the Indonesian capital, with 72 passengers and 12 crew members aboard, hit clear-air turbulence while the aircraft was flying over Singapore, injuring five crew members and one passenger.

The plane landed safely at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 3.40pm and the injured were sent to hospital.

The crew members and passenger have now all been released from hospital, reported the Bangkok Post.

Charamporn apologised for the incident and said the company had covered the medical expenses of the six injured people.
