Ever heard of Black Day? The South Korean tradition, also known as Singles Day, is one of the country's most popular unofficial holidays. Celebrated on Apr 14, it's a time for singles to throw on black threads and dine on jjajangmyeon (that's Korean black bean sauce noodles, for the uninitiated).

It sounds kinda dark, if you ask us. We're picturing thousands of heartsick single Koreans, dressed in dull garb from head-to-toe, drowning their sorrows in bowls of carbs. Y'know, misery loves company and all. Unless there are those anti-Valentine's Day types who abhor lovey-dovey displays and commemorate the day ironically.
