In the latest case of unknown hackers putting up fake version of government websites, the Central Provident Fund (CPF) is the latest victim of the ruse. The CPF Board warned users on their Facebook page of the fake duplicate of their corporate website in a phishing alert. "We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to remain vigilant and exercise caution when using the Internet, especially for transactional purposes," said the Board, assuring that they're working to take down the imposter.
The fake website was set up probably to take advantage of a malfunction that disrupted e-services on the real site two weeks ago. As of yesterday, CPF e-services caterting to over 90 percent of online transactions have been restored.
