Exotic birds, long-tailed macaques, squirrels, monitor lizards common sight in Zhenghua Nature Park extension

National Parks Board officially opened an additional 3.8 hectares in Zhenghua Nature Park in Bukit Panjang over the weekend, bringing its total size to 17.3 hectares. The 30 species of plants that have been planted in the extension has attracted birds and butterflies."High biodiversity can be observed in the park," said NParks, adding that 37 bird species have already been spotted at the park — including the Olive-backed Sunbird, Flameback Woodpecker, Pink-necked Green Pigeon, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo and Long-tailed Parakeet. Long-tailed macaques, squirrels, monitor lizards and many others are also a common sight. The nature park also functions as a buffer for the Central Catchment Nature Reserve nearby. Facilities at the new extension include a multi-purpose event lawn, a children’s play area, and an exercise station, according to NParks. For directions to Zhenghua Nature Park, visit NParks website.
