Local online grocery-shopping startup RedMart is really making giant leaps these days. As if having the endorsement by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin wasn't enough, they've just raised $37.5 million in a bridge round of funding and roped in former Amazon vice-president Colin Bryar as Chief Operating Officer.
Founded in 2011, the website — an online grocer offering delivery services — has now raised $54 million in total funding. The Wall Street Journal reports that the latest round was lead by the likes of Singaporean online gaming company Garena, SoftBank Ventures Korea and Saverin's Visionnaire Ventures, among others.
Now armed with the clout and expertise of Bryar, RedMart is set for expansion from Singapore to other parts of the Southeast Asian region. Bryar, who was a technical adviser to Amazon's Chief Execuitve Jeff Bezos, will be taking charge of engineering, marketing and operations.
