An American dentist may have hunted and killed Africa's biggest lion (to the rage of Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam) but this Singaporean personal banker was out to hunt the most dangerous game of all: humans.
Bored out of his mind, 26-year-old Ernest Sim used his air pistol to shoot pellets at a stranger walking past his window on the evening of Jan 26.
TODAY reports that he bought the toy weapon from Phuket, Thailand in December 2013 and managed to smuggle it in here by dismantling them into parts.
Like the mischievous imp he was, he even turned off all the lights at his Clementi flat immediately to escape detection.
Unlike Cecil though, the victim — 29-year-old Bian Xin — was not down for the count, even when the pellet hit her just above her chest. Following the incident, her friend lodged a report to the police, who raided Sim's flat and confiscated his toy weaponry.
In court, it was revealed that Sim had also hurt another victim using his air gun on two other cases in the same month. For his offences, he was sentenced to seven weeks in jail and a $12,000 fine. That's a frickin' hefty price to pay for pulling off some childish shenanigans.
