It's one thing to accidentally start a fire in your, quite seriously another to use a lighter to set fire to the mattress in your master bedroom.
That's reportedly what Koh Chong Huat, 44, did on Saturday early evening at his four-room flat on the 12th floor of an HDB flat on Choa Chu Kang Drive.
The smoke was bad enough to affect the two units above it, and evacuate around 40 block residents.
What's just as worryng? Koh is reportedly a taxi driver — which means he could have been your driver at some point.
Koh s been remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric assessment. He faces a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine if he is found guilty of arson.
