ArrestedMoving to a completely different country to work as a domestic helper can be a distressing experience, and it's not exactly helpful to also face a dosage of verbal and emotional abuse by the employer.  Already at her wit's end, 25-year-old Myanmar national Than Than Win snapped and used a pair of scissors to stab her employer's mother-in-law to death last year after claiming to endure months of bullying from the deceased. TODAY reports that she has since been sentenced to 13 years in prison.  Than Than Win had been employed by the family in February 2013 to work at their Springdale condominium, where she alleges that 87-year-old Yong Wan Lan had picked on her from the start and was never satisfied with her work.  After being called 'useless' on Mar 4 last year, Than Than Win  lost control — she took the largest pair of scissors she could find at home and stabbed the elderly Yong multiple times in the chest, abdomen and limbs at the condominium. She then tried to slash her throat with a saw found on the condominium premises before being stopped by a worker and was later arrested.  In court, it was revealed that Than Than Win had been suffering from severe depressive disorder and on account of her mental illness, she got her charge reduced from murder to culpable homicide.  The prosecution however did not that considerable force had been used during her frenzied attack — the deepest stab wound sustained by Yong measured 11cm deep. No significant amount of lambasting and provocation from Yong was also noted. Photo: Connor Tarter via Flickr
