Perhaps displeased and annoyed by the fact that Plaza Singapura will be undergoing yet another facelift so soon, a shop unit at the Dhoby Ghaut mall got engulfed in flames around 10pm yesterday.
Fire had broken out inside the home and furnishing retail store Mayer on the fifth floor, but was soon extinguished by the triggered sprinklers, TODAY reports.
Two fire engines, two fire bikes, two red rhinos and five supporting appliances arrived at the scene (better to be overkill than sorry) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers were seen attempting to break into the store as white fumes emerged from inside.
The SCDF are conducting investigations into the source of the fire.
