Despite the mass fish deaths that left about 900 of them floating along the surface of the Kallang River in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) has assured the public everything's fine and dandy, and that they should continue on their activities.
Mainly comprising of cichlids, the dead fish were first discovered two days ago, and the National Environment Agency has since fished out all the dead critters from the river in a clean-up operation, TODAY reports.
What's puzzling is the fact that lab tests of water samples collected showed normal levels of dissolved oxygen levels. Thus they can't really blame it on algal or plankton bloom that caused the mass oceanic life holocaust earlier in March.
This would not be the first time the park has been acquainted with the fishy massacre — around 400 fishes died last February when Singapore suffered a dry spell.
PUB are still conducting investigations into the case. Currently, the water quality of the park's river has ben observed to be normal, with live fishes seen swimming about.
