Usually only those who attend the National Day Parade are able to get funpacks but this year, every household is getting one so that everyone can participate in the nation’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. However, getting these funpacks ready for about 1.2 million households is not easy.
Since the packing began earlier this month, nearly 1,000 people are involved in the daily process and they are able to pack up to 120,000 funpacks every day, Channel NewsAsia reports.
About 36,000 funpacks are being prepared by volunteers, including students, bloggers and some from the Down Syndrome Association, who have worked tirelessly with soldiers to get these funpacks ready.
"Comparing the scale of the funpack production for this year to last year, this year we are doing four times more than last year", said LTC Tan Bak Liang, who heads the funpack operations for this year's NDP.
Most of the funpacks are prepared at Kranji Camp 3, which will be transported to community centres islandwide for distribution. Distributing approximately 1.25 million funpacks is a massive operation and requires more than 330 lorry trips.
Rejoice, as about 87 per cent of the funpacks have been completed as of Monday.
