The daughter of an elderly woman has been caught on video slapping her mother, who was sweeping the corridor outside their HDB flat. The video was posted last night on Facebook and has since gone viral, eventually reaching the authorities who have come to the rescue of the old woman, identified as Kamisah.
The disturbing video (you can watch it below) was posted to Facebook by a certain ApohTecky Numero who has witnessed prior attacks on his neighbour, but was at a loss as to how he could help.
In the aftermath of the video's release, residents of the Lower Delta Road housing have come out as witnesses to this cruelty.
In this Straits Times report, neighbour DV Singh said he often heard the family members shouting at each other and banging on the wall in the evenings. Housewife Jacquelin Low claims she has seen the daughter slap Kamisah twice a week in the common corridor. Another neighbour, named Samat S, says he saw the daughter the elderly woman as she lay on the ground after alighting from a cab.
The family, said Singh, had just moved in two years ago and had borrowed about $5,000 from him.
The report also confirms that the Singapore Civil Defence Force had sent an ambulance last night to pick up Kamisah and take her to Singapore General Hospital.
When he uploaded the video last night, ApohTecky Numero described in detail how he and his family have been seeing the changes in Kamisah."From an old cheerful lady to a botak [balding] and fragile old lady whose face is bruised everytime single time we saw her. As much as we would want to render help, we are in no position to. (domestic affair) We have been witnessing alot of incident but just this one time, we decided to discreetly video-ed them," he wrote."They were pretending to be talking nicely when my mum was along the corridor hanging the laundry. But the moment my mum stepped into our house............this is just one of the things that happened. This is not the first time. Watch it. Such inhuman. The one who is slapping her is...................her own daughter. How could you. She's your own mum. She carried you in her womb. How could you gang up with others against your own mum?"
A sign posted outside their flat, supposedly written by Kamisah's daughter, claims they have moved out of the flat and into a friend's house because the family owes money.
