PunchWhat kind of man would beat up a woman so badly until she passed out with two of her teeth knocked out? And in full view of the public at a shopping mall? 49-year-old Malaysian storekeeper Karunagaran Ratnam is that kind of man, the type who has a special pit reserved in hell with their name engraved in it.  He has since been sentenced to 16 months in prison and three strokes of the cane for severely wounding his former lover — 37-year-old Malaysian cleaner Kalaivani Sakaran — at Novena's Square 2 shopping mall in September last year, The Straits Times reports.  Prior to the bash-up, Kalaivani had been avoiding him for a long time but that afternoon, he managed to track her down at her workplace. She tried to run when she spotted Karunagaran, but he managed to catch her before pummelling her repeatedly in her face and chest as onlookers attempted to stop him. Even when she fell to the floor, the doggedly brutal man dragged her up and continued his relentless assault.  They were eventually separated before the police arrived. Kalaivani sustained multiple cuts and fractures on her face and was given a week's hospitalisation leave.  Both of them had been in a relationship for 22 years and have four children between them, even though they were not married.  Photo: Feans via Flickr
