'Trishaw' by Loke Hong Seng
You wouldn't think that the street that you see in this photograph is the same one where you see masses of people stumbling down on Friday and Saturday nights."Trishaw" depicts a pedicab rider cycling up Club Street in the 1970s, offering a rare glimpse into the Singapore that was. Only one car is parked on the street, and lines of laundry hanging out of open shophouse windows.
The photo is on display in "A Social Portrait of Singapore: The Critical Years", an exhibit that features a selection of works taken from 1963 to 1985 by photographer Loke Hong Sen.
