babyA brief impulsive act of agitation has landed a Filipino domestic worker behind bars after she was convicted of causing grievous hurt to a seven-month-old baby placed under her care, The New Paper reports. Earlier in February, 24-year-old Filipina Valencia Gemalyn Garma was woken up around 1.30am by the cries of her employer's baby after managing only 15 minutes of sleep. Admitting to have been "agitated and tired", she pulled the girl's right hand forcefully when she wanted to reposition the baby while carrying her.  Garma's deed proved to be a serious one as the baby refused to stop crying, waking up her 33-year-old mother who took her child from the maid. Later that day, a medical checkup at KK Women's and Children's Hospital revealed a fracture on the child's right arm near her elbow.  In court, Garma admitted that she did not inform her employer about the injury as she was afraid. Unrepresented by a lawyer, she apologised for accidentally hurting the girl and was jailed for two weeks after pleading guilty to her charge.   Done reading?
