Twenty-three Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers will face civil service disciplinary actions for their uncivil antics which were captured in two video clips that went viral on social media in April.   One of the video clips showed a post-apocalyptic scene complete with toppled bedframes and cupboards strewn all over the place. As reported in The Straits Times, the SCDF said in a press statement on Friday that investigations into this incident have confirmed that the culprits involved are 14 National Service Full-time (NSF) officers and nine regular officers.   The 14 NSFs have been charged under the Civil Defence Act and are liable for punishments ranging from a fine to detention and demotion, while the nine regulars are liable for punishments ranging from letter of warning to dismissal, said the SCDF.   The superiors were not spared either, as another five SCDF regular officers with supervisory roles face letters of warning or advice, the SCDF added. These men really took celebrating their graduation from training to the next level by completely trashing not only their room, but the reputation of the SCDF.   But of course, one bad apple doesn’t spoil the whole bunch.   In its press statement, the SCDF has expressed deep regret at the misconduct of its officers and said that “such behaviour does not reflect the culture and discipline expected of all SCDF officers".
