A videoclip has surfaced online, unwittingly depicting the last words that Mount Kinabalu quake casualty Peony Wee Ying Ping said to her parents.
The 12-year-old Tanjong Katong Primary School student was among the eight other students and two teachers initially reported missing following the earthquake that hit Sabah on Friday. She was the first Singaporean found dead and identified during the recovery operations, which has so far claimed the lives of seven other Singaporeans.
The videoclip, uploaded on the Tanjong Katong Omega Challenge blog the day before disaster struck (and re-published on Kaki News Network Facebook page), shows both Wee (in black jacket) and her fellow climbers happy and ready to continue on a new day on their expedition. The end of the video is where it gets heart-breakingly sad — when asked to leave a message for their parents, Wee says a cheerful wave and a "bye!" to the camera, while her friend remarks that "we're safe here in Malaysia lah".

Quake victim says bye to her parents before quake
The last words of Singaporean victim Peony Wee ( on the left in black ) was "bye" to her parents before the quake. Rest in peace Peony, you will be dearly missed by us all in Singapore. #sabahquakeKaki News Network, for Kakis, by KakisPlease follow and support www.fb.com/knn.sg
