A woman met with an unfortunate accident this morning outside Punggol Bus Interchange when she was hit by an SBS bus.
The bus was said to be making its way out from the interchange and onto Punggol Place when it ran over the 30-year-old woman, The Straits Times reports.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the scene close to 7am, dispatching two fire engines, a support vehicle and an ambulance to the location. The woman had to be manually pulled out from under the bus, and was conveyed unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
The bus driver involved in the accident was escorted away by the police, and left the scene in a police car around 10am.
In a statement, SBS Transit mentioned that they have suspended the driver pending the outcome of police investigations.
