Spike in digital music purchase in SingaporeMore people in Singapore are paying to listen to muzak online, are you one of them?"Music sales in Singapore grew 4.7 per cent to SGD17.2 million in 2014, after four consecutive years of losses, according to the recently released annual report by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry," reports 938LIVE. Digital music revenue reached SGD9.5 million last year, while CDs and the like accounted for SGD4.5 million. "Regional director Ang Kwee Tiang said this was due to the growth of digital revenue, particularly from online streaming platforms such as Spotify and Deezer which saw greater consumer awareness in 2014," it says.  This is amid reports that Apple wants to "kill free Spotify streaming" because as it prepares to launch its own music streaming platform — paid, of course.
