For the next 20 years, there will always be a spot to showcase the works of Singaporean artists in the historic Arsenale complex as part of the yearly Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition.
According to Channel NewsAsia, Singapore has just secured a long-term lease of space for the Singapore Pavilion at the Biennale. It'll be a grand platform for local artists, as The Arsenale is one of the two main sites for the exhibition.
The Singaporean representative for the 56th International Art Exhibition at Venice is artist and former Olympic sailor Charles Lim, who unveiled his nine-part installation art SEA STATE — an exploration of the biophysical, political and psychic contours of Singapore through the visible and invisible lenses of the sea.
The Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Sam Tan was present to officially open the Singapore Pavilion yesterday.
