A seriously disturbed 14-year-old boy will be facing court and tried as an adult over his multiple criminal offences which included snatch theft, housebreaking, and even rape.
As the youngest person to be ever tried for rape in Singapore's High Court, he has been charged with raping a 16-year-old at a lift lobby and faces accusations of molesting a 21-year-old woman, The Straits Times reports.
The boy had been initially charged in Juvenile Court last July for offences including snatch theft and housebreaking — he and his accomplices allegedly stole an electric shaver, perfume and manicure tools from a unit at Redhill Close. He had also broke into a flat in Redhill to make away with $300 and cigarettes, and then stole a mobile phone, a wallet and $1,500 from a victim.
But while out on bail, the relentless delinquent continued his crime spree, allegedly grabbing the buttocks of a woman at a staircase of a block of flats. The month after that incident, he allegedly raped a girl twice as well as violating her with his finger and a comb.
His bail was revoked after he was arrested for rape that month, and the teen now faces two counts each of rape and sexual assault by penetration of the 16-year-old.
Each charge carries a maximum of 20 years in jail and caning, which should be able to purge the devil out of him.
