Not that you're starting to look your age, Boat Quay, but you could benefit from a $5-million makeover.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority has announced plans to create three new outdoor area structures in Boat Quay where people can chill out while staring into the Singapore River or the conserved shophouses.
These structures will have timber-like floor decking and retractable canopies that can be lowered to provide protection from the rain. Slots have been designed for menu boards and signage, and beams provided from which to mount lights and fans.
The existing overhanging wires across the Boat Quay promenade will also be removed and located underground.
Work is expected to start in the first quarter of 2016 and finish in 10 months.
