A researcher of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) was slashed by an unknown assailant while walking along an unlit route popularly used as a shortcut by other workers of the Biopolis research and development hub near Commonwealth MRT station.
The 27-year-old scientist was assaulted — but not robbed — last Saturday night walking along the derelict path linking Biomedical Grove to Commonwealth Drive, which cuts through the rail corridor before passing through the vacant Tanglin Halt HDB estate. She was admitted to National University Hospital and is currently recovering from her injuries.
According to The Straits Times, A*Star has even issued a e-mail memo to its staff not to use the shortcut, encouraging them to walk to Buona Vista MRT station instead of the one at Commonwealth.
The suspect is still at large while police investigations are ongoing.
