How much can a couple of construction machinery parts sell for? Apparently, a lot. Two men have been arrested for a series of theft of excavator parts, with an estimated value of $122,000 recovered from their abode.
Several cases of theft of excavator parts were reported at several constructions worksites across Singapore, in places including the Gardens by the Bay, Kallang Airport Way, Sunview Drive and Woodlands Road.
The excavator's monitor and engine control unit (ECU) were among the things that were reported stolen.
Following investigations by the Jurong Police Division, the duo was arrested on Apr 15 in the vicinity of Lorong 22 Geylang, where a total of 11 ECUs were found.
If convicted, the duo will face imprisonment of up to three years and/or fine.
