Ka-ching, ka-ching!
VivoCity has expanded one of its basement levels by 15,000 square feet with two new tenants opening in Singapore for the first time: lifestyle brand American Eagle Outfitters, set to open in June, and multi-brand lifestyle retailer Weekends that opens today.
They are to be joined by Steve Madden, Thomas Sabo, Rabeanco, Aeropostale, Lab Series, Etude House and Innisfree, which will open progressively, according to Channel NewsAsia.
It's a brave step, considering a Straits Times story yesterday reporting a 12.4 per cent drop in sales at department stores in January because of cheaper goods online and overseas; and a 2014 survey by The Economist magazine's Intelligence Unit saying that the Lion City is the most expensive place in the world for clothes — at least 50 per cent higher than New York.
