That Escalated Quickly: All-out brawl in minimart as shopkeeper tussles with man over bag of chipsTwo men were left in hospital on Sunday evening after an argument over a bag of chips turned physical, turning a minimart into a scene of chaos as the men held their own private Fight Club in the premises to settle their differences.  The altercation was captured by a passerby and submitted to Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao, in which the store's wares were left scattered on the floor and the glass screen of the chiller was seen shattering.  The incident occurred at an iEcon minimart along Redhill Road around 6pm, and it all started when a 12-year-old boy wanted to pay for a bag of chips and other snacks, Lianhe Wanbao reports.  When the boy wanted to pay for the bag of chips separately from the rest, the 32-year-old shopkeeper refused — and the unhappy boy began messing up the displays. After the shopkeeper shouted at him, the boy left to call his 22-year-old brother.  The brother then started arguing with the shopkeeper loudly and it soon turned physical. As they tussled in the aisle, the shop turned into a scene of chaos as glass shattered around the two. The shopkeeper then managed to overpower the older brother and pinned him to the ground.  The boy then went to call for his mother, who arrived at the shop and begged the shopkeeper to let his son go. The shopkeeper refused, and insisted for them to wait for the police.  Both men were later arrested for affray, and received treatment at Alexandra Hospital for various injuries from the shattered glass.  And all this trouble over a bag of measly chips.  Photo: Lianhe Wanbao
