![As much as 90% of Singapore's malware-infected computers found in CBD]()
For a city widely renowned as a technology-driven financial hub, you'd think we'd have a solid cybersecurity protocol. But it seems that it's not the case — up to 90 percent of malware-infected computers in Singapore are found in the heart of the nation's economy: the Central Business District.
The factoid was revealed by Microsoft Asia's Regional Director of Digital Crimes Unit Keshav S Dhakad, who warned that the robust financial industry and the heavy reliance on financial transactions here makes it a strong target for cyber criminals, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Microsoft added that their Digital Crimes Unit monitors and analyzes more than 10,000 Singapore IP addresses a week, all of which have been disconnected from malicious software and networks.
Their study also found the existence of blind spots and weak links in IT management, usage and policies, making the IT systems and infrastructure being built by governments across the Asia-Pacific vulnerable to cyber attacks.
