Hungarian President Dr János Áder arrived in Singapore yesterday morning for an official visit, where he met a number of local politicians and leaders for discussions.
Welcomed by President Tony Tan with an official welcome ceremony at the Istana, both Hungary and Singapore affirmed their excellent state of bilateral ties and welcomed more opportunities to strengthen trade and investment links, Channel NewsAsia reports.
President Áder also met up with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss about climate change and cooperation in the higher education sector, and later had lunch with Speaker of Parliament Mdm Halimah Yacob to welcome growing parliamentary ties between their two countries.
Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan welcomed the Hungarian president at Marina Barrage, where he was briefed on Singapore's water and sustainability efforts.
