A 34-year-old man has been charged in court for blackmailing an older male teacher, successfully extorting thousands of dollars in cash and valuables by threatening to expose their sexual relationship to the Ministry of Education and the teacher's school.
According to a report by The Straits Times, Vincent Ng now faces eight charges of extortion, after it was found that he allegedly coerced $197,000 in cash and valuables from the 45-year-old teacher to keep quiet about their relationship.
Ng allegedly threatened his partner between September 2013 and March last year through text messages, demanding cash and gifts including four Chanel bags, a gold chain and a Rolex watch.
He intends to plead guilty, and if convicted of extortion, he will face up to seven years in jail as well as caning.
