![4 koalas from Australia to inhabit Singapore Zoo for six months]()
The Singapore Zoo will see the superbly adorable addition of four koalas from Australia as part of SG50 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the both countries.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the koalas will inhabit a purpose-built exhibit at Singapore Zoo for six months as a loan, and will only become permanent once the reserve is able to support its own koala colony. The marsupials survive on a diet of eucalyptus leaves, and Australian airline Qantas will be transporting fresh food supplies twice per week for the duration of the loan.
Though they may look cuddly, visitors shouldn't expect a lot of activity from the koalas — their eucalypt diet has limited nutritional and caloric content, leaving them largely sedentary and hibernating for up to 20 hours a day.
